Srinagar, Apr 23 (KNO): Security forces on Wednesday cordoned off a forest area in South Kashmir's Kulgam district after exchanging fire with the terrorists.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that on a tip off security forces launched searches in Tangmarg, Aharbal this evening. “The terrorists holed up there opened fire on the search party which was retaliated , triggering a brief gunfight,” the official said, adding, “After the initial exchange no fresh contact was established and the vast forest area has been put under cordon.”
He added due to darkness ongoing operation has been put on halt for night and it will resume on Thursday morning.
He added that given darkness, lights have been installed and all the escape routes have been plugged—(KNO)
